Taipei Eats: Perfect match of Taiwan breakfast, Dou Jiang You Tiao

You will never run out of breakfast option when you are staying in Taipei. And if you don't know what to order just say the four magic words: 豆漿油條 (Dòujiāng yóutiáo).

豆漿 is known as soya milk in English. And in Taiwan, the breakfast stall usually serves it in bowl (some in cup too) especially if you opt for dine in.  How to drink this? Just bring the bowl near to your mouth and start slurping. Slurpppp~~~

油條 is called fritters in English (this, I am not so sure but I got this word from Google Translate). This deeply fried stuff is amazing. I am so willing to close eyes on the amount of oils used to enjoy this food *unhealthy alert*. And look at the size!!!! Satisfied!

Happiness guaranteed. Hehehe.

If you think I am exaggerating, even JJ Lin, a famous singer, says so in this song titled 豆漿油條. How's that! Hahaha.

This kind of breakfast can be find in any breakfast stall in Taiwan. Just pop by and ask for them. =)

Taipei Eats: Pizza party at Maryjane Pizza, Gongguan

Staying in Taipei for a few months will make you miss Western food. Thanks goodness, it is not very difficult to find one in Taipei. A friend from Singapore who studied in Taipei at that time introduced us to a cozy pizza place at Gongguan called Maryjane Pizza.

Finding a place to sit during peak hour is not an easy task. But since we came straight after church around 11am on Sunday morning, it was not that bad yet.

The place looks quite cozy right? It's really nice to chat with friends here. Or chill out by yourself.

We ordered a spinach pizza. This is our first time ordering pizza which has a lot of greens.

Jakarta Eats: Sushi Tei, Central Park Mall

Chinese New Year holiday means long weekend and it means a peace treaty between tummy and calories. And there is no complete eating trip to Jakarta without popping by Sushi Tei, my favourite Japanese restaurant chain in Jakarta. =)

Let's start with a healthy bowl of Chef's Salad. Okay, not very sure on the healthy part but this best consumed drenched in sauce. XD

Next is a Tendon. While I like anything fried, the rice is just too much. Rice best shared amongst two persons if you are not a big carbo-eater.

No visit to Sushi Tei is completed without trying out its sushi. I craved for unagi so I opted for a simple unagi sushi. Yum!

Great news if your birthday happens to just passed or just around the corner. The waiter/waitress will usually ask if there's any of the customer having a birthday or just had a birthday (a week before or after the actual birthday). Upon production of ID card, they will serve you a birthday sushi roll. Yeah! Happy Birthday Me! (my real birthday is a few days in the future though).

You can find Sushi Tei in a lot of shopping malls in Jakarta (and Singapore too!). But if you want to know the exact address, you can always check out their website here

Hong Kong Eats: Fullhouse Tiffani, Tsim Sha Tsui

Happy belated V-day people! I said this late not because I had a hot date yesterday though (my friends and I had lo-hei and celebrated Chinese New Year instead). XD

I was trying to find a romantic place to share with you guys but after racking my brain cells, I only remembered a cafe which I randomly went into last summer in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. Does this somehow reflect that my life in Singapore is super not romantic? LOL. Anyway, moving right along...

Fullhouse Tiffani Tsim Sha Tsui
We found this cute cafe by chance. It was raining heavily that night and there's no way we can reach our hotel dry. So we decided to just hang out at the nearest cafe we could find.

Tiffani Cafe Hong Kong
To our surprise the cafe is very pretty and it seems like it's a popular cafe for pre-wedding/ wedding occasion. For a start, there's a statue of the bride, which I suppose her name is Tiffani? Hahaha.

The groom is standing near to the entrance with a bouquet of roses. I told you this is a nice cafe to take picture. Really.

They have a fireplace here too. Fake of course. Cause the place was super cold that day despite the fireplace. XD

My friend and I shared a slice of cake that night. Not bad. Quite a cute and cosy place to spend your day having a chat over a slice of cake. =)

Hong Kong Eats: Starbucks Coffee "Bing Sutt", Duddell Street

Everybody knows Starbucks, I suppose, while Bing Sutt (re: Ice Room) is a type of traditional coffee house in HK. So if you are curious about the fusion of coffee house and modern cafe, you must visit Starbucks Coffee "Bing Sutt" when you are in Hong Kong.

Starbucks Bingsutt Duddell Street Central Hong Kong
Starbucks Bingsutt is located at Duddell Street in Central. The area looks kinda retro. Even the street lamp looks retro. Hahaha.

When we walked inside, the place does not look like Starbucks. Really an old-style coffee house. A real instagram material. XD

A lot of old times mementos are displayed in the glass cabinet.

Starbucks Bingsutt serves breakfast HK style. Btw, the ladies word tag that you see on the top right side is the key to the ladies room. So if you need to go to the ladies here, you need to borrow that key first.

These are our breakfast that day. Coffee egg tart anyone? ^^

One afternoon during our HK trip, we were tired but lazy to walk to our hotel. So we decided to find a place to hang out somewhere at K11. And then, we saw this.

La Creation de Gute is actually a bakery. But it also serves as a cafe. So you can pick what you want to eat and have it there over a cup of coffee, if you like it.

All the bread tag is decorated by hearts.
