Taipei Eats: Saladay, Taipei 101

You will seldom hear people want to eat salad when they visit Taipei. But after months of eating a lot of fried stuff and yummy meat, I kinda crave for salad. And lazy to make one myself. Then I stumbled upon Saladay.

Saladay sells salad box which is perfect for lazy people like me (who don't even use plates at home).

It may not be healthy but it was sure the healthiest food I ate during my stay in Taipei. LOL. 

Saladay is located at the basement of Taipei 101. It's near the food court.

Souvenir from Taiwan: Wooden Music Box

One thing that I enjoy admiring in Taiwan is their wooden music box. Eslite Bookstore has a number of them on display.

They are not cheap though. That's why I haven't had one last time. =( #brokestudent

Inside Core Pacific City Living Mall, Taipei

Following up my last post, we are going inside the core of the Living Mall now.

The feeling is kinda similar to going to some high-tech building or space station. I dunno why. I can't explain. Haha.

I am not kidding when I say the stores are located at the core.

The food court is located at the basement. But I was quite full that day so I did not buy anything from here. =P

Core Pacific City Living Mall is located at the Taipei City Hall area. You can see the map below to see the location of the mall.

Have you heard of Living Mall in Taipei? It's a big shopping mall in the area of Taipei City Hall. But it is not near the MRT (at least, according to my legs). Haha.

After making my way there following the direction given my Google Maps, I finally saw the globe mall.

The core which is the globe like thingy is the mall, from the direction you can see that the shops are located at the core. Interesting, eh?

Singapore Eats: Blackbird Bistro & Bar, Dhoby Ghaut

Blackbird Bistro is actually not a new restaurant. Last time, it's called Blackbird Cafe. However, it has shut down for renovation and we have not had the chance to pop by again after it's done with the renovation.

One fine Saturday afternoon, we decided to give it a go. Here are the few dishes that we tried that day:

1. Pulled pork sandwich

We were tempted by the name and this sandwich does not disappoint. Pork lover should definitely try this.

2. Jay's Funghi Risotto

The chef really puts a lot of mushrooms in this dish. I think so far this is risotto with the most mushrooms threw in inside. I feel kinda bad for my friend who does not really like the smell of mushrooms. Sorry, babe!  

3. Seafood Aglio Olio

At least our hate-mushrooms friend can enjoy this dish which is full of clams. Thanks goodness she does not hate the smell of clams. =P

4. Tiramisu

The hole on the top of the tiramisu is due to candle that we stick in before for our birthday girl. We can taste the liquor taste so yeah, this tiramisu is kinda strong (and we like it that way).

5. Carrot cake

No I did not mix up the name of the cake even though we were quite perplexed when the carrot cake come. This is the first time we saw carrot cake served with vanilla ice cream and mousse. Initially we thought the server give us chocolate lava cake instead of carrot cake. Hahaha. Nice touch of creativity there!

6. Free mixer 

As a complimentary to all its guests that day, Blackbird Bistro & Bar give us free round of vodka jelly. 

These jellies look innocent but yeah, they are vodka in disguise. Hahaha. Can't really do one shot until the jelly melt though. XD

We have a quite enjoyable evening with good food. The bill is on the heavy side though. Oh well. =P

Bali Eats: Naughty Nuri's Warung, Kuta

The best thing to do in Bali Island other than enjoying the beach and the view of the sea, of course, is to eat. Bali is a food heaven. And you don't have to know the complete address of the famous restaurants here because the taxi drivers know them very well too. 

For now, let's drive to Naughty Nuri's Warung to have some BBQ-ed ribs.

Potato wedges for side dish.

The famous ribs. It's so famous so that the restaurant charges a premium for this slab of ribs. It's really seasoned well though so I guess it's not like we are paying for nothing. 

Naughty Nuri's Warung is located in Kuta area. So you can try the ribs when you happen to be around Kuta. Nom nom.

Hotel Review: Sunrise at Grand Aston Bali Resort, Tanjong Benoa

Sunrise and sunset are those moments that we will definitely enjoy when we have our beach vacation. And my mum, being a morning-person, woke me up with gusto at 6AM. Yawn~

Due to my few minutes of snooze (I am not a morning person.), the sun has risen this much when I reached the beach. XD

Even if you are not a morning person, you should not miss Bali's sunrise. You can go back to bed after that or better, make a dash to the breakfast buffet. #pampertummy

Jakarta Eats: Penang Bistro, Central Park Mall

Wanna try Penang delicacies without actually travelling to Penang? No fret, you can try Penang Bistro at Central Park Mall (well if you are not Indonesian staying in Jakarta, I guess you may need to fly after all. XD).

The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty nice especially if you can get the table near to the windows. The view outside? Hmm, Jakarta's traffic I guess? 

A glass of refreshing lime squash is the best for Jakarta's hot weather. Despite the fact that I am inside a mall which is air-conditioned. =P

This is one of the best dish (according to me and my mum) in Penang Bistro, Mango Chicken. 

To add some greens to our meal, we ordered a bowl of Ebi String Bean. Taste okay but I prefer my meat. #carnivore

Another famous item in Penang Bistro is its Roti Canai Beef Curry. Which is apparently listed under Appetizer (I thought it's one of the mains). Perfect for sharing.

Penang Bistro also sells dishes like Penang mee goreng, nasi lemak and fried kway teow. It's located at level 1 of Central Park Mall in Jakarta. Do pop by if you are interested for some roti canai.

Jakarta Eats: Poke Sushi, Crowne Plaza Hotel

After XX-th attempt by my friend to bring me to Poke Sushi, I finally went there but not with him. I went with my family instead because my mum bought a voucher from Groupon. Hahaha.

The voucher entitled us to for a certain set with sushi combination. It comes with the salmon sashimi. My mum does not eat this so more for me, yeah! 

This is the sushi platter. A mixed of salmon roll, unagi roll and crabstick roll. All yummy!

We ordered ala carte item from the menu which is outside the voucher's scope. This roll is called Mini Dynamite Roll. And if a dynamite taste this good, I don't mind exploding. #eh

Poke Sushi has expanded in recent years. Now Poke Sushi can be found in shopping mall too like Grand Indonesia or Summarecon Mall Serpong (if you don't stay in Jakarta). 

Bali Hotel Review: Grand Aston Bali Resort Tanjong Benoa

During my last visit to Bali with my family, we stayed in Tanjong Benoa area since we never stay at this part before. We chose to stay in Aston because my mum managed to find a great deal from her travel agent friend in Bali.

This is the twin bedroom that we booked. Bedroom does look cozy.

The bathroom comes with shower glass and a bath tub in triangle shape.

Aston Tanjong Benoa has its private beach. This is the view of the beach around 3PM. Still burning hot.
