Just had a small talk with a friend and he was busy talking about finding his own passion...bla bla bla. I am more of just-do-it-as-long-as-it-pays kind of girl and hence, talking about passion is kinda boring me out. In the first place, does everyone manage to work in a line they have passion with? If this is true, I will be screwed because my passion in life is well...enjoying it. Via travelling, shopping and good food. If I busy chasing my passion, I will end up broke. Hahaha.

Talking about my third passion (re: good food), I am lucky enough to have several friends who share the same passion (not that difficult to find people who loves good food though). One of my friends has never tried Angelina at Capitol Piazza before and begged me to accompany her there. Oh well, since my first visit to Angelina was purely dedicated to its desserts, I agreed to accompany her on a note that I would try Angelina's main course this time.

Nothing's in Angelina comes cheap and this includes the main course. Thankfully I've done my research and the chicken roulade which I ordered taste pretty good. It's also plated beautifully with a touch of purple flower. Size-wise, it's just nice to fill in a tummy of a young lady in her late twenties. Not sure if this can feed a guy's tummy though. Probably can since guys nowadays don't eat much.

Second Visit to Angelina, Capitol Piazza

My friend insisted to have desserts at Angelina. I did not blame her since Angelina is famous for its desserts in Paris. The thing is, Angelina's cakes are really overpriced. While it tastes not bad, it does not give me out-of-the-world-and-hence-the-pricetag-is-justified taste.

The Tarte tout chocolat fares way better than Angelina's main star, Le Mont-Blanc, which tastes very sweet. Too sweet for my taste. The next time I came to Angelina (if that ever happens), I will probably stick to the cocoa drink and the main course.

If you are visiting Singapore and staying in one of the hotels around City Hall area, you can try Angelina at the nearby Capitol Piazza (located opposite Raffles City). It opens until 10PM everyday.

The last time I ate at Dazzling Cafe was the night before typhoon hit Taipei back in summer 2013. My friend visited me and as what most locals do in Taipei the night before typhoon, we...spent our last few hours before typhoon came in shopping mall. And we had a good time sharing our honey toast back then.

Determined to share the same experience with another friend, I visited Dazzling Cafe again two years later...in Singapore.

Dazzling Cafe has opened its branches in Singapore. The first is located at Capitol Piazza in City Hall while there is another one coming up at Orchard Gateway. I came slightly before lunch time on a Sunday and I have to wait in the line because the whole restaurant is packed. Oh well, at least I was the first in line and there are only two of us.

15 minutes later, the waiter ushered us in and we made our order swiftly. I miss the taste of the fruit tea served at Dazzling Cafe in Taipei. The fruit tea served in its Singapore branch tastes pretty similar I think. A refreshing choice for a hot summer day.

Despite the heat, my friend still need her coffee hot. The hot latte came up quite pretty. I guess that's a good decision to order your coffee hot for Instagram purpose.

We ordered the buffalo wings and it comes in five meaty pieces. The buffalo wings taste pretty good and I love the BBQ taste that it gives.

We only ordered one main to share amongst the two of us because we wanted to leave some space in our stomach for the honey toast. My friend wanted to order the seafood marinara pasta. I am usually getting pretty irritated when the amount of seafood that the restaurant gives is too little for the price tag. But Dazzling Cafe provides a reasonable amount of seafood in the pasta dish and so, I am a happy customer.

Finally, here comes the main star of our Sunday lunch date, the honey toast. There are so many different flavors you can choose for the honey toast. Our Black Chocolate Honey Toast looks pretty mild compared to the Matcha Honey Toast. So if you want your toast to be dramatic, go for the matcha. The waiter or waitress will give customers a moment of food-photography before offering his or her service to cut the toast.

Overall, I prefer the honey toast flavor sold in Taipei because they really come like a huge tower of toast and ice cream and ice cream sauce. And the price tag in Singapore is pretty steep for the honey toast (average SGD 15). Since I have no other choice, I think I will still come back every time I have a crave for honey toast.

It's funny that there are three ladies who know each other from office and all of them like cakes. Okay, on second thought, most ladies that I know love cakes, anyway. And now, in order to satisfy our craving for new cake, we made our way to Capitol Piazza in City Hall.

The reason why we came all the way to the Capitol (sounds like we are in Hunger Games movie) is because we want to hang out at Angelina Tea Room and Patisserie, which is situated there. When Angelina has just been opened, a queue is always spotted at its entrance (it happens everytime a new restaurant is opened in Singapore though).

We saw a lot of raving comments in the social media platform for two menu served in Angelina. One is the chocolate drink while the other is its Mont Blanc cake. The famous chocolate drink is called Chocolate "L'Africain". You can have it hot or cold. Due to the extremely humid weather that day, I chose to have it cold. After I ordered and drank it, the waiter came by and explain that the chocolate is better drank hot. Duh, should have told me before I ordered it, shouldn't you? Well, the cold one does not taste bad though apart from the fact that the taste will get diluted once the ice cubes melt.

And here comes the main star of Angelina, the Mont Blanc. I heard a lot of stories, once of them said that the cakes are especially flown all the way from Paris to Singapore in order to maintain the authenticity of the cakes served here (at least in the earlier days of the opening). With that kind of effort (and the hefty price tag for a cake at S$13.50, wtf), of course, we are expecting some kind of magic from the Mont Blanc.

We took a bite and we were surprised because we though that the French does not take sweet stuff and the Mont Blanc is damn sweet. Too sweet for its own good, to be honest. I don't think the taste justify the price at all. =(

How to go to Angelina:

1. Take the train to City Hall MRT Station

2. Take the exit B, halfway through the exit, you will see a pathway leading to basement level of Capitol Piazza

3. Make your way to Angelina which is located at level 1 of the building
