8D Avia Japan Trip: Pretty looking croquette from Villa de Croquette, Kanazawa
Villa de Croquette is a less than 6 months old croquette shop located at the entrance of Kanazawa Old Town. The shop was just opened for one week when we were there in March. We got attracted to the shop because there are many people checking it out and queue for it (since it’s new) and the menu looks pretty interesting. Villa de Croquette sells modern kind of croquette (or korokke) and you can choose any fillings that you’d like which is available on the menu.
The menu have mostly savory croquette such as bacon cream, cheese, potato, pizza, etc while there is only one sweet croquette available at that time. Not sure what is the inside of the sweet croquette but from the picture it seems like sweet potato. The outside texture of the croquette varies from one flavor to another. For instance, my cheese croquette has seaweed seasoning on it while my brother’s potato croquette has something which looks like small bullets made of rice cracker. I love cheese and goeey cheese inside my croquette made it even yummier. There’s no specific place to sit and eat the croquette so you just gotta stand near the shop’s proximity to enjoy the snack. The queue got pretty long up to the point it’s snaking and blocking the nearby carpark. The shop lady had to go outside and usher the queue in proper line. It’s hard to speak in Japanese toward foreign tourists though so she had to resort to body language. LOL.
The croquette sold at Villa de Croquette costs in the range of 300JPY-ish. I wonder what is the flavor of the most expensive croquette which is sold at 410JPY. My mum prefer the traditional croquette filled with meat though so I suspect these so-called fancy croquette may not be suitable for your mommies or grandmommies. Hahaha.
It opens from 10.30 to 18.00 on weekdays and 10.00 to 18.00 on weekends (including Sunday). Go try them out if you visit Kanazawa Old Town, okay?
