Sweet Time at Adrift by David Myers, Marina Bay Sands

If you are looking for various choices of celebrity chef restaurants at one rooftop, look no further as you just have to make your way to Marina Bay Sands. From Gordon Ramsay to Wolfgang Puck to Tetsuya Wakada, these chefs have decided to expand their culinary skills to the shore of Singapore. However, today, we are going to enjoy our dinner at Adrift which is helmed by David Myers. My first impression, Adrift has made its online reservation super convenient as compared to Bread Street Kitchen (which somehow always shows weird timings on its online booking slot).

Adrift has adopted a modern Izakaya concept and that means, its menu consists of mainly big and small plates. However, since today we are going to try Adrift's signature desserts, we decided to order just one main to share amongst the two of us. Wagyu Cheeseburger, our choice for that night, served in "open" concept as the two sides of the burgers are purposely shown not stacked onto each others. The first bun has a juicy beef patty layered with melty cheese and jalapenos. While the other bun is slathered with tomato jam and a mountain of cheese shavings.

We ordered two desserts that night as we heard so many good reviews about Adrift's desserts. The first one is named Calamansi, Creme Fraiche, Creamsicle. This dessert is pretty...unique. It looks like an ice cream sandwich as the calamansi creamsicle is caught between the two tuile cookies. If you like your desserts to be zesty, this is a must-order-dessert for you.

While the next dessert that we are going to try is Adrift's signature dish, the Caramel French Toast. In a glance, it looks like a thick slice of bread covered in icing sugar, vanilla ice cream and a dollop of caramel and chocolate sauce. The bread is actually a moist caramel brioche. Even though it is moist inside, the outer part of the brioche is grilled to perfect crunch. Yum!

Superheroes Cake Date at DC Comics Superheroes Cafe, Marina Bay Sands

During one of my friend's visit to Singapore, the first thing that she wanted to try is the DC Comics Superheroes Cafe at Marina Bay Sands because her son would love it. And the place is just so convenient from her chosen accommodation, Marina Bay Sands (the ultimate choice for most Indonesians who come to Singapore, somehow). In her defence, she managed to get a good deal for her stay at Marina Bay Sands because she booked it for low-season dates. Hmm, not sure how true it is, I guess we must keep on opening our eyes for such deal.

Back to DC Comics Superheroes Cafe, I've visited the cafe before for the Batman black burger but this time my friend and I wanted to try their cakes and coffee. The themed ones of course. You can see the cake selection over the counter.

I seriously don't understand the hype about rainbow cake because I can't really appreciate the taste. It looks nice and pretty, yes I agree but taste-wise...hmm, all I can taste is sugar and coloring.

It comes with Superman emblem though so from photography point-of-view, this is one awesome cake to buy. Hahaha.

The coffees, meanwhile, taste better than the rainbow cake. My friend ordered a glass of latte and it comes with Batman sign on top. I wish Batman can take a day off and sip coffee with us here.

If he's busy, maybe Superman can come in his place, instead? Since my cup of mocha shows a strong support to his signature sign? (But the cookie shows Batman sign, omg, such a betrayal). XD

The price of the food sold at DC Comics Superheroes Cafe is (no-need-to-be-surprised) downright expensive. I suppose we are helping the cafe pay for their rental. Really. On the fun side, the boy enjoys reading the comic on the wall and eating the Batman cookies. XD

DC Comics Universe has opened a retail shop together with a superheroes theme cafe at the Shoppes Marina Bay Sands. The cafe is located at the third level of the ice rink area of the shopping centre. My sidekick and I came visit the cafe on a lazy Sunday afternoon around 2+-ish and to our surprise, the cafe was not crowded at that timing. Good for us, because we are pretty much starving after trying to save the day from those villains. Oh hello there, Superman!

There are comic strips plastering the wall inside the cafe. You can read comic strips from various DC Comics heroes such as Wonder Woman and Batman. I used to watch Wonder Woman on telly when I was younger but I never know the background story of this one strong woman. If you are like me, you can read the comic strip on the wall and gain some background information to get the "feel" of the cafe. Hahaha.

Superheroes cafe focuses mainly on Western food but do note that not all dishes have the signature remarks like the bat sign of batman or the S sign of Superman.

For instance, there is no sign of any superheroes whatsoever on the side dishes like this cheesy fries. If only, they can make the fries in the shape of a bat. =P #justanidea

But if you order the Batman's Dark Knight Burger, you will see the bat sign made from cheese on top of your black bun. The burger taste pretty good too. You may want to consider ordering this main dish if you are looking for Instagram-worthy picture.

On top of the main dishes, you can also order various drinks and cakes. I was pretty full from eating the burger though so I guess I will leave the drink and cakes for another date.

Singapore Eats: Pizza and pizza at Pizzeria Mozza, Marina Bay Sands

You can forget about eating at Pizzeria Mozza without making a reservation. And the restaurant is pretty strict with the reservation timing. If you book your table at 8pm, then you will still only get your table at 8pm notwithstanding the fact that there is an empty table available at 7.50pm. So, after loitering outside the restaurant for 10 minutes, my friends and I were finally seated at our table and ready to make order.

Now, let's start with the Antipasti (literally translated as "before-the-meal"). We decided to be adventurous that night and tried baked bone barrow for our first time in life. Not many things that we can eat from this meal to be honest and I suppose that's why this dish is categorised as Antipasti. Haha. But nonetheless, the taste is quite distinct and it's quite nice to be eaten together with the garlic butter toast.

One of our friend is 100% carnivore, so we must choose pizza which has meat as its topping. For our first order, we tried Fennel Sausage pizza (S$29).

As our first pizza is so meat-based, we decided to order a pizza which has a tad green on it. And our choice is Prosciutto di Parma (S$31). We like the salty taste of dry-cured Italian ham and to be honest, I prefer this pizza to the fennel one.

Overall the dining experience at Pizzeria Mozza is quite nice. The restaurant can be quite noisy though because it is always full-house at dinner-time. We didn't try any dessert from Pizzeria Mozza and decided to walk a bit for a heavenly plate of Chocolate Fudge at TWG Tea Boutique & Salon.

Singapore Eats: Todai, Marina Bay Sands

It has cooked food station.

Dim sum. Sorry, I am a bit lazy to open all the lid. But Todai has the basic dim sum which is usually served in most international buffet in Singapore e.g. pork dumpling and roasted pork buns.

The fried food station. I don't know why they serve so little fried items here but the waiters/ waitresses do refill the food station.

The most important food station in Todai is definitely the Alaskan Crab station. Which always attacked by the diners whenever the station has just refilled by the chef. #kiasuism

Todai also serves soft-served ice cream. I dunno why my ice cream looks like poo seriously.
