Singapore Eats: Barrio by Mex Out, Vivo City

Hello! There is a saying "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." However, nearly 10 years down the road of career, the only thing that I love about what I do is the payday. One thing that money can buy is the food to share between you and your friend on a weekend date. Hahaha.

For the last Saturdate, Le BFF and I went to try out Barrio (which is owned by the business behind another Mexican restaurant, MexOut) at Vivo City. The outlet at Vivo City is the second outlet of Barrio in Singapore. The first is at 313 Somerset. The outlet at Vivo City seems to be slightly bigger than the Somerset one so we decided to choose Vivo City for our Saturdate's venue.

I ain't a Juan so I did not feel like ordering tacos that day. But I was interested in the rice bowl and jalapeños nachos. I wonder what kind of Mexican breakfast does Barrio have.

The presentation of the jalapeño nachos and pulled pork rice bowl look so pretty, we could not help not to take picture of the food before eating. Hehe.

Okay, let's start with the pulled pork rice bowl. The amount of pulled pork given to the rice bowl is quite generous but the touch of the purple cabbage is what making the dish looks photogenic. Taste wise, I enjoy this plate of rice bowl. Yum.

The nachos are served with cheese, jalapeño, guacamole, minced beef, tomato salsa and a lot of mayonnaise. Looks very unhealthy, I know but this combination makes the whole plate so delicious. YUMMY! Perfect food to share with friends while talking about daily life in general.

Bali Eats: Mojo's Flying Burritos at Seminyak

Seminyak is famous for a lot of elites restaurants and pubs like Ku De Ta and Potato Head. So, to our surprise, we found out that our dinner venue that day, Mojo's Flying Burritos actually looks like your normal neighbourhood house. There are only a few tables and seats available and the place was not crowded around 8pm. Good for us! Because we were so hungry.

Mojo's Flying Burritos is a Mexican restaurant. So we tried all their popular dishes like tacos.

And last but not least, the burritos. Sorry, did not take the picture of what's inside the burritos because everyone was busy taking a piece of it few seconds after the burritos was being cut.

Mojo's Flying Burritos is located at Jl. Petitenget Gang Prana Benoa Kuta Badung at Bali. Despite the al-fresco setting, the restaurant is quite comfortable enough for us to chat while having yummy Mexican food. And ice cold beer.

Singapore Eats: Mexout, Far East Square

I initially thought having Mexican food for lunch is impossible. This is because I only know which place selling chicken rice near my office, but not nachos or burritos. Hahaha.

Until my friend brought me to Mexout. But ironically, she brought me here at dinner time. Because we have a near-meltdown situation at our office earlier around lunch time. #worksucks #butitpaysthebills

There are 3 steps in ordering food at Mexout. First, you need to pick the base, and then the main fillings and lastly, the salsas (the sauce I suppose).

While waiting, we are looking around at the restaurant's design. Quite hipster? Is that the word that these restaurants use nowadays? Hahaha.

Not really having much experience in eating Mexican food, I ordered the safest choice of tacos. Aren't tacos supposed to be cripsy? Mine is not crispy and kinda cold. Don't really like it. =(

My friend ordered the rice bowl with added guacamole (i.e. that avocado thingy on top). Hers taste better than mine.

Everything taste better with a glass of margarita though. If you order their margaritas at happy hour (5pm - 8pm), it will cost you S$10.00. Not bad, I think? #seldomdrink #blamethewallet

Mexout is located at Far East Square, alongside the Quiznos row. I should probably try their nachos next time. =)
