7D Korea Golden Rama Tour: Hello Kitty Island, Jeju Part 1

I suppose there must be a reason of why a lot of families with small kids (by small I mean those kids are still studying at primary school) decided to join Golden Rama's 7D Korea Tour. I did not really read through the itinerary back when Mom suggesting the trip because of well, uhh, busy schedules in life (this or simply too lazy to read). But when I checked out the itinerary for day 2 at Jeju, turns out we are going to visit a lot of places which are kids-oriented.

After visiting Camellia Hill, the next location on the Golden Rama's itinerary is apparently Hello Kitty Island. Huh, wait? Did I hear that correctly?

Oh wow, apparently there is a whole huge building dedicated to Hello Kitty right here on Jeju Island. The building consists of three floors and if you are a true fan of Hello Kitty, you will be so freaking ecstatic here. The whole building basically functions as exhibition hall which is themed around Hello Kitty. So do expect to see a lot of Hello Kitty painting, dolls, figurines, goods, etc inside the building.

There is a huge Hello Kitty statue right in front of the entrance. Do take picture with her before entrance so that you have one less thing in your to-do-list after visiting Hello Kitty Island. Taking picture with the biggest Hello Kitty - checked!

Upon entrance, you will see a huge tower of plushie, Hello Kitty plushies of course. This place can be a huge cuteness-overdose for guys but guys, chillax, if you are joining a tour group, most likely you do not have to spend hours and hours here because after all,  Jenny, the local tour guide, only allows us 50 minutes to hang around at this place. I'm sure you guys can endure 50 minutes of pinky cuteness overload, right?

Oh, I have totally no idea that Hello Kitty has her own family. Although technically speaking, I should have known that the kitty must have parents right? After all, we are referring to a fully clothed kitty in the first place. Okay, since the whole family member is here, let's go through the family tree briefly. The kitty with red ribbon is Kitty White while the kitty with yellow ribbon is Mimmy White (mwo? I don't even know Kitty has sister O_o!). Their parents are George and Mary White (I thought their name supposedly Japanese since they are all born from Sanrio?). The grandparents are Anthony and Margaret White (now I kinda imagining all Hello Kitty characters speaking in a posh British accent).

In the middle of studying the family tree of Hello Kitty, Mom said she wanted to go to the washroom. Disturbed but obliging anyway since I'm such a good filial daughter (plus trip sponsored by Mom), I went with her to the 2nd floor where the washroom is located. Turns out there is a cafe at 2nd floor and while 50 minutes seem to be a rather limited time to enjoy yourself chilling out at the cafe, you can still go in and check out what do they have inside the cafe.

Since our tour group seems to be the first visitors to Hello Kitty Island that day, the cafe is obviously deserted at 10.30AM-ish. Most of our fellow tour participants are still busily taking pictures at level 1. The cafe looks quite spacious with furnitures themed in Hello Kitty's favourite color, pink. It looks pretty much similar to the Hello Kitty cafe which I visited before in Taipei (albeit bigger).

Food-wise, the cafe offers mostly sandwiches and cakes. Some of the cakes are molded in Hello Kitty's shaped like the three cakes on the middle section of the display. The price of the cakes and the drinks are well, not so cheap, to be honest with you.

Oh right, these are the cakes in Hello Kitty shape. The cafe in Taipei seems to have wider variety in terms of dessert and beverages selection which revolves around Hello Kitty's face. Hahaha. Oh right, time to visit the washroom. All of us got distracted with the cafe, we forgot about our main purpose to go to level 2 of Hello Kitty Island.

Do you know that it is a must to visit the washroom of any themed restaurant/ building related? The reason is because the washroom is usually decorated according to the theme. So in this case, as expected, the washroom door has Hello Kitty and even pink color theme (I wonder if the gents also has such decoration but Bro just says the gents has normal Kitty stuff, hmm).

Ooohhhm, Kitty's mirrors. Let me take a selfie while tidying up my hair.

Relieved from the urge to pee, we shall continue exploring other exhibits in this huge Hello Kitty Island but since they are picture heavy, I shall show them to you in the next post. Part 2 coming up!
