Wandering Fel

It was such a hellish week in the office so I'm glad that it is finally weekend. Woots! Obviously I did not dare to make any dinner appointment tonight fully knowing that there is a great threat from sudden surprises to the reporting deadline which is due on Monday. Sure enough, it happens again. Bummer.

When I finally able to enjoy my Friday night, I was so tired up to the point I did not even bother to check who's free amongst my friends. I decided to just date myself on a Friday night. But, I am quite sure a lot of restaurants will be fully packed and I don't want to attract attention from the non-solo diners while I am enjoying my meal in the comfort of my own company. In times like this, I would proceed to one of the places in my list which are solo diners friendly. For today, let's make our way to Maki-san, the funky sushi stall located at the basement of the Cathay.

Customers at Maki-san are allowed to create their own sushi roll and salad. There is an ordering form whereby customers can pick the layer of the sushi (i.e. egg roll or seaweed), the type of rice for the sushi (i.e. white or brown rice) and the ingredients to fill your sushi of course (some items like crispy enoki mushroom and tempura may take longer to fry). Customers can also choose their own sauce to put inside the sushi. My creation tonight is the egg roll brown rice filled with enoki mushroom tempura, asparagus and chili crab sauce. Funky enough for a humble Friday night, no?

Hello. I'm still alive without my Mac. Somehow. After three hours figuring out how to resurrect my Mac through all possible ways which I manage to google, the screen still shows white color, as white as a whitewalker. Cold.

Annoyed with the whole situation, I decided to just book a slot with the repair centre but tomorrow's slot is fully booked. In despair, I crawled out from my room and decided to go out with bff to grab a cuppa of coffee instead.

There is something about Orchard Road. Every tourists who come to Singapore will surely visit this stretch of road to do some shopping. There are several friends of mine who purposely waiting for great flight deals just to come to Singapore (fyi, Qatar Airways often have flight deals to Singapore) and do some shopping at Orchard Road. For us who are working in Singapore, Orchard Road also has some weird effect on us. Whenever we are meeting in Orchard Road, we don't feel like going home so early. Okay, either the effect can come either from Orchard Road or our house in Singapore. LOL.

Anyway, if you are looking for a place to have a nice chat when it is already 9PM in Orchard Road, you can visit The Providore at Mandarin Gallery as they close quit late (either 10 or 11PM if I'm not wrong). The Providore is a nice place to have a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.

Overeasy occupies the space which is used to be occupied by Wendy's in Liat Tower. The place is frequently flooded whenever rainy season hits Singapore but let's hope that the drainage system has been improved so that Overeasy will not suffer the same ill-fate.

Anyway, since it has not rained that frequently nowadays, we figured that it is time to go to Overeasy, which seems to adopt American diner style, just like TGI Fridays. As how the rest of American diner goes, Overeasy offers a various type of burgers and sandwiches.




Overeasy has another location at Fullerton Hotel but the one located at Fullerton Hotel seems to be catered for fine dining instead of casual family diner. 

"It's Christmas time in the city" 

I still cannot believe that it is already the last month of the year 2015. I don't really look forward to 2016, I guess it's because I have to say goodbye to my twenties soon. Oh my gawd, I don't think I am ready yet. Can I be forever young, please? #thirtyisnotoldright

But, Christmas is a beautiful season I guess with all the pretty lights in the city. I suppose the beautiful Christmas decoration (and all the festive food) will take my mind away from the pressure of the coming age for a while. Orchard Road, in particular, is already decked in Christmas gear. I never get bored of the decoration, especially the lighting put in display in front of Orchard ION. So yeah, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Singapore.

Tonkichi is a Tonkatsu specialty restaurant chain which is originated from Japan. The restaurant has been around since 1993 and until the recently, I still saw long queue on its door on a Saturday evening. It is currently has five branches in Singapore, whereby three of the branches are located in Orchard Road. 

After eating too much Japanese food at Tokyo Walker in Plaza Singapura, my friend voiced out that she wanted to eat Western food. The first thought that I have in my mind about Western food is Astons (after the yummy salmon fillet that I had at Astons Prime). And then, we spotted Swensen's at one of the levels at Plaza Singapura. As usual, spurred by spontaneity, we decided to just go in and try Swensen's Western food. 

I sticked to the fish and chips, which I think is the easiest dish to prepare on every restaurant's menu. Swensen's fish and chips is not bad but not fantastic either.

We often watch movie at Plaza Singapura or the nearby Cathay on a weekend. Up to the point that we don't really know where to eat before or after our movie. So in one of our movie date, my friend and I wandered around Tokyo Walker area (i.e. an area full of Japanese restaurants) at level 4 of Plaza Singapura. We decided to try out Fruit Paradise. 

Back in uni days, I always eat fish and chips at least once a week because fish and chips sold in UK is freaking fantastic. And oily. And cheap. And duh, which students don't eat fish and chips in UK?

Now, working my ass in Singapore, fish and chips is...an expensive meal!!! *cry*

I suppose I should be grateful that I can still find fish and chips quite easily in Singapore. Although, I have to pay extra for this meal. #bosspleaseraisemysalary

Okay, enough ranting while waiting for my fish and chips. 

Sometimes, we all need a little randomness in our life. And today's lunch random edition is held at PS. Cafe at Palains Renaissance. My friend and my randomness made us walked quite a distance from where we began. Oh well, it's always good to burn some calories before you fuel yourself right? 

30 to 40 minutes later....

Okay, who suggested this crazy idea? It was so hot we melted under the sun. So the first thing that we asked from the waitress is a glass of iced water instead of the menu. XD

With the new cafes popping up here and there in Singapore, the queue line at Antoinette is not as bad as it is used to be. Thanks to that, my bestie and I were able to secure a seat within 5 minutes. Considering that we came to Antoinette branch at Mandarin Gallery, this can be considered a sweet surprise. Hehe. 

It's Momo's birthday and we are gonna celebrate her birthday at Ambush because...I have a Groupon voucher. We went to the nearest Ambush from our working place, the one at Plaza Singapura. 

On a very rare occasion, my friend and I were adventurous enough to venture into Orchard Road for a weekday lunch. To our surprise, there are a lot of restaurants offering lunch deal at Orchard area for weekday lunch, including Malones.
