Beimen Crystal Church, the Crystal Church Floating on Water in Tainan

Not many people has heard about a place called Beimen before. Beimen is one of the districts located within the city of Tainan. I have never been to Tainan before because of the difficulty to commute inside the city, let alone to venture out of the city. The district is famous for its salt drying and fish farming industry but obviously this kind of industry will not attract tourists to its vicinity. With that reason, Tainan government came up with an idea to build something suitable for pre-wedding photos since pre-wedding and wedding photos businesses are booming in Taiwan.

When the idea has materialised, there is now an open air church which is floating on water in Tainan. It is named Beimen Crystal Church. Once its photos went viral on social media, a lot of visitors started to pour in (including us, curious beings) to take picture of the new romantic attraction in the middle of nowhere.

There is a barricade put up surrounding the Crystal Church for safety reason. The purpose is to ban the public from crossing over the fences for a close-up picture if they do not apply for a wedding. This works well for the benefit of the public too as they will be able to take a clear picture of Beimen Crystal Church without anybody photo-bombing the awesome scene.

There were practically nothing else for us to do at the surrounding vicinity of the church. Oh well, let's just take another close up look of Beimen Crystal Church then. And for that reason alone, all pictures making up the blog post for today look more or less the same. LOL

How to go to Beimen Crystal Church?

There is no easier way to reach Beimen Crystal Church other than take a cab or hire a driver/car. Beimen Crystal Church is located at:

Taiwan Travel: Anping Tree House, Tainan

After our trip to the Fort Zeelandia in Tainan City, we moved on to the next spot on our list, Anping Tree House. Anping Treehouse is a fusion between nature (in the form of a banyan tree) and man-made structure (an old warehouse). The banyan tree has been left to grow on the warehouse structure for the past 70 years and now, it has become a unique local attraction in Tainan. This is how the roof structure looks like from outside. I have to say, it makes me so curious to enter Anping Tree House.

There is an admission fee of 50 NTD that you need to pay before you can go further inside the tree house.

A mirror has been installed on the rooftop to allow visitor from beneath to see outside and see how the branches of the banyan tree are inter-tangle among themselves on the roof.

You can see the roots has assimilated with the building structure.

If the weather permits, you can have a leisure exploration at Anping Tree House for around one to two hours. It's kinda fun. =)

Taiwan Travel: The Outer Yard of Fort Zeelandia, Tainan

After exploring the inner part of Fort Zeelandia in Anping city of Tainan, we continued our exploration outside. Right at the yard of the fortress. At the fortress wall, we saw a remnant of the ruck used to hold the walls together.

The bricks used to build the fortress wall were brought all the way from Java island in Indonesia.

We noted that there is a pit right below the observation tower. Lured by curiosity, we explored the pit further. Let's hope curiosity won't kill the cat. Hahaha.

The pits which can be found all around the fortress are actually excavation pits.

In this excavation pit in particular, the first bricks laid in Taiwan were found. So glad that Taiwanese government really do a lot of efforts to preserve its history.

Taiwan Travel: Fort Zeelandia, the ancient days of Anping, Tainan

Fort Zeelandia was a fortress built over ten years by the Dutch East India Company (VOC), in Anping, Tainan. The Dutch ruled western part of Taiwan for 38 years. You can still see the sign of VOC when you visited Fort Zeelandia.

There is a replica of how Anping city looks like from above.

Beside the recreation of Anping city, there is also a miniature of Fort Zeelandia, which was an international business centre in that era.

I could not remember what are there things but they do look like bombs. Hahaha. Let's hope noone burn the string.

When you visit Fort Zeelandia, make sure you check out the outer part of the fort. For a start, there is this big tree which really looks magnificent. But of course, there will be many things to see other than the old tree. =P
