I am actually chained to my desk now in the office by an “invisible chain” called salary but it does not stop me somehow from daydreaming about pancake. I love eating pancakes for breakfast but it’s not a common breakfast item in Singapore so I end up making note on where to go for good pancake in basically any part of the world. That’s how I stumble upon the pancake café in Taipei named Belle Epoque.

Well to be honest with you, I am attracted to the fact that omo omo, is that pearls used for bubble tea on top of the pancake? Belle Epoque offers various type of stacked pancakes and it comes with various toppings. The pearls cream milk tea pancake (NTD 240) seems to be the most exciting thing to eat at Belle Epoque. The pancake has sticky texture and it goes so well with the creamy milk tea sauce. Hmm pearls and pancakes I wonder how do they pair.

If you are not up for pearls on your pancake, you can also choose Belle Epoque’s normal pancake I suppose like the tiramisu pancake and lemon pancake ordered by @suzkana. The tiramisu foam kinda remind me of the similar foam used for shibuya toast from Dazzling Café. I suppose those magical foams go with everything hahaha. You can also choose to add ice cream at the side of your stacked pancakes just like what @eva200221 did.

Belle Epoque’s café décor looks pretty interestingly vintage. I think the theme of the café is wooden style library. Ahh I can imagine myself sitting there while enjoying my stacked pancake bit by bit. And then a handsome waiter will come to bring me a comfortable cup of coffee. Wait, do they sell coffee? Hmm, I should really go there to find out more I suppose. Thankfully, it won’t be difficult to find Belle Epoque as it is located in the Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT’s vicinity. It seems to be located two streets behind Sogo department store. I’m sure I can find it with my reliable Google Map skill.

Good morning Sunday! Yesterday was probably the last time I'm having salad for dinner because I ended up sleeping hungry. The struggle was so real up to the point I woke up at 4AM and still feeling hungry. Diet journey must go on though at least until the day my cousin's wedding is held. No way I'm gonna be the fattest relative. #vainmax

Gone are the days of eating cakes for now. Huhuhu.

But if you are on vacation, please do not deprive yourselves of cakes and cute desserts because who will do that when one is in themed restaurant as cute as Rilakkuma Cafe.

If we did not have further dinner plan, we would have ordered mains too but we tried to keep our tummy in check and decided to just share this Rilakkuma choco tart by the two of us. Isn't it a cutey?

We also ordered drinks because there is a minimum order of one drink + one cake (or one drink per guest) imposed by the cafe. This regulation is pretty normal for all kind of themed restaurants because the diners at these kind of restaurants tend to chill for SO LONG. Like hours. We did not make reservation but they allowed us to sit for one hour. Good enough for us. The fruit teas are nice and refreshing but where's Rilakkuma in our drinks?

Oh there you are. Hello there, yellow iced Rilakkuma. Actually if we have the ice cube mold, we can make this ourselves. LOL.

Don't forget to visit the washroom whenever you are in a themed restaurant. The washroom is always decorated nicely.

Right outside the bathroom, Rilakkuma and his friends are enjoying reading time with a cuppa of coffee and hot chocolate on a cozy corner. I feel like joining them really. Hahahah.

It is not easy to find a place which we can get attached to but somehow, I do find some lingering attachment to the city of Taipei. It's probably running in the blood since my dad was actually Taiwanese before he changed his citizenship to Indonesia due to work. Kinda wondering why he did not decide to stay in Taiwan instead but if that's the case, I would probably not be around now. Guess all things happened for a reason.

While waiting for my friend to finish his audit work on Saturday (working as auditor is hard no matter where you are including in Taipei), my travel buddy and I were looking for a cafe to chill out and I happily suggested Rilakkuma Cafe because themed cafe is always fun to visit with a girl friend.

This would serve as guarantee too just in case my future hubby dislike all things related to cute character and hence he will not want to accompany me to do this kind of stuff. Okay, to be honest I was not really such a fan of Rilakkuma either but this kind of themed cafe is unique and popular in Taipei so it would not harm to visit Rilakkuma Cafe at least once in our lifetime.

Everything in a themed cafe features the themed character and since this time, we visited Rilakkuma's HQ in a way, his face is plastered everywhere including the menu.

There are both savoury and sweet dishes to cater all kind of different taste buds. If only we came with an empty stomach, I would have chosen to order Rilakkuma sleeping under the omelette. So cute, really!

Desserts are mostly tarts and cupcakes. I am never a fan of cupcakes so we just zoomed in on the selection of tarts instead.

Once we have placed our order, it's time to look around. There are many Rilakkuma cushion scattered all around the sofas so chances are you will have these cushions to take picture with.

If you order the egg pudding, you can bring home the container too. Cute, eh? I was seriously nearly tempted to buy this but then again, my travel buddy reminded me that my luggage was already at 98% capacity.

Cutleries and cups/ plates/ bowls are available too but since I am not even living at my own home, all these things are deemed unnecessary for now. Haiz.
