Taiwan Eats: T.K.K. Fried Chicken, Ximending

Even though Taiwan has KFC (see my post on KFC here), it also has its own version of fried chicken. It happened that my friend and I were hungry and then we saw this interesting yellow neon sign opposite the road.

The fast food chain is called TKK Fried Chicken (頂呱呱/ Dǐngguāgūa) and they are scattered all around Taiwan. If I'm not wrong, I saw a branch in Ximending vicinity.

Not very sure on why the mascot has a very muscular bicep. Which I very much doubt he gain it from eating fried chicken.

What makes it different from KFC is that it serves fried sweet potato and fried mantou instead of normal fries. I ordered chicken wings that night.

I can't really appreciate fried sweet potato and much prefer normal fries though. For that reason alone, I'd probably go back to KFC. Hahaha.

Taipei Eats: Rice Fun Wrap at McDonald's

Fast food in Taiwan is very creative. For instance, they come up with special menu depending on the season. Last summer, Taiwanese McD came up with a new wrap menu which is called "Rice Fun Wrap".

If you are wondering where does McD put the rice, it's right there! Right inside the wrap. Hahaha, creative much?

I don't know about you but this is the first time I see (and eat) this kind of wrap. Taste good too. I'm loving it. =)

Taiwan Eats: Cup noodle at convenience store

吃幾碗的泡麵? How many instant noodles bowls have you eaten?

Whenever I am not so concerned about my health (those days exist!), I love eating instant noodles. I don't know what kind of flavouring that the Taiwanese use in their instant noodle package but it works (in terms of taste but no idea about health content).

Best place to eat instant noodle? Convenience store, of course. Like this huge 7-11 that I randomly found around Gongguan. Huge convenience store means more seats inside. Plus wifi. Tee-hee.

Oh, say hi to 7-11's mascot (which I don't know the name).

Today, we are going to try AQ (阿Q) cup noodle. Based on the picture I think the taste should be BBQ pork? =P

3 minutes later. Hmm this one looks kinda plain. And empty.

The garlic taste in the broth is quite strong. It's edible but I would rather eat different flavor.

There's always deal going on about cup noodles. Sometimes, you can get one at 17NTD only. Crazy, eh? Better don't eat this everyday for your health sake. Hahaha.

Fast Food In Taiwan: KFC

I cannot resist the temptation of eating fast food/junk food in Taiwan. I suppose I have fallen in love with it since I was a kid. So yeah, I could not resist it any longer when I saw this just across the street.

KFC often have the saver meal which costs ranging from NTD89 - NTD159. We opted for the NTD89 because we were kinda broke. *studentlife*

I chose the BBQ while my junk-food-lover-friend chose the burger which has wasabi in it. If you notice, the regular size for the drink is comparable to the up-sized one in Singapore. O_o!

Do note that you get what you pay for. This is the deconstruction version of by BBQ burger. Don't expect any veggie in it. And the size..well, if you are so hungry, I don't think this alone will fill you up.

At the end of the meal, I had to say the drink did fill me up. Hahaha. It's time to walk back to home. It's quite nice to have a night walk in Taipei because (1) there are still a lot of people (2) the area is quite safe. Don't expect me to walk alone at night in my hometown, Jakarta. Big NO NO!

Saw the nice wall mural..the building looks so European from the side. Nice!

Make sure you exercise after you eat fast food, okay? Hehe.
