Wandering Fel

I have never seen this kind of message in my fortune cookie but...apparently it's quite common? Hahaha. 

The Pine Garden is located at the north-eastern corner of Hualien city. It is located on a hill overlooking Hualien city and the estuary of Meilun River. There are a dozen aged pine trees outside the Pine Garden.  The Pine Garden was actually a Japanese military structure. It is preserved by the Taiwanese so that it lasts until now. Despite being constructed by the Japanese, the building looks like a building from Europe, being built with bricks, wood, concrete and steel. Leaves has grown all around the house due to times. Nowadays it looks like a natural green house in Hualien.

If  you are a stamp collector, don't forget to add your collection by stamping Pine Garden's stamp inside your album. The stamp looks pretty nice. 

Taiwan is known as a culinary destination for a lot of travellers. It is not a surprise since the country itself is very proud of its food culture. This can be spotted from the numerous night markets scattered all around in the country. But, one does wonder, where to eat delicious Western BBQ in Taiwan? Especially when you are not at the big cities like Taipei and Kaohsiung. What if you are, in fact, somewhere in Hualien? Well, look no more, you can have a delicious Western BBQ at Salt Lick in Hualien. 

While you are in Hualien, you can also continue your foodie journey to the famous night market at Zhiqiang Night Market after finishing your meal at Salt Lick. Hahaha.  

After visiting the Pine Garden (see link), it's time to feed our grumbling stomach. So we made our way back down to the city centre and go to a famous eating place in Hualien, Gong Zheng Bao Zi (公正包子). When we arrived at the place, the long queue was already formed. O_o!

My last night in Hualien and I somewhat feel reluctant to...leave the hotel because it was drizzling. But my persistent friend insisted that we must not leave Hualien without any mochi in tow. Her persistence dragged me out from my room and off we go walking to the train station to ask for the direction to the mochi store (we only know it's near the train station). Hualien Train station is not as big as Taipei Main Station and since it's near the end of long weekend, the train station was super crowded. We decided to ask the security guard instead because we were lazy to queue. 

In between Taroko Gorge and the city of Hualien, there lies the one of the most famous scenic view of Taiwan, Qingshui Cliff. It offers the best view of Taiwan's Pacific Coast.
