Taiwan Eats: Gong Zheng Bao Zi, Hualien
After visiting the Pine Garden (see link), it's time to feed our grumbling stomach. So we made our way back down to the city centre and go to a famous eating place in Hualien, Gong Zheng Bao Zi (公正包子). When we arrived at the place, the long queue was already formed. O_o!
I seriously nearly fainted from hunger but finally, it's our turn to get a table. I was drooling over the buns while queuing.
We quickly ordered the three top dishes from the restaurant (we did google it before). You can see the price at the right side of this picture. They are like super cheap we starting to wonder what meat they serve us. Hahaha.
The dishes are here and we are ready to attack! Yeah! The first dish is steamed dumpling (蒸餃/ Zhēng jiǎo).
The second dish is another type of dumpling called 水餃 (Shuǐjiǎo). The difference lies in the way they cook the dumpling I suppose. We don't really care as long as they taste good. =P
The mainstar of the dish is definitely the xiao long bao (小籠包). They serve the thick-skinned xiao long bao. Pretty different from the ones served at Din Tai Fung but they taste super awesome.
The best way to eat is of course, by dipping them into the vinegar. Happy eating peeps!
If you really love them, you can buy the pre-steamed version to take home. But I don't think it can last long so better eat as many as you can here. Hehe.
