Dining Experience at Bread Street Kitchen, Marina Bay Sands
After a certain number of tries to reserve a table at Bread Street Kitchen, my friend and I were finally able to book a table here. And guess what time we have to come for dinner? 5PM! The timing slots available for reservation are damn weird at 5pm, 9pm and 10pm. Oh well, we did not mind coming a bit earlier for dinner, we guess.
Bread Street Kitchen is owned by Gordon Ramsay and reservations are made months before the restaurant was opened for the first time. Nowadays, it is easier to make reservation (despite the odd timings) and you don't need to call to make one. You can just do it via online reservation here.
After we made our order, a complimentary basket filled with breads is served for our nibbling. The breads taste great, especially when you put butter on it.
We chose one main for each person. My choice for that dinner time came on roasted sea trout served with leeks, trout roe, horseradish veloute and samphire (S$37).
My friend wanted to eat red meat instead so she ordered slow-roasted Dingley Dell pork belly served on top of spiced apple puree (S$28). Her reason for ordering this? Dingley Dell sounds like Jingle Bell and it was our Christmas dinner. Both mains taste pretty good although portion wise...we still feel hungry after we finish both mains. Either we are heavy eaters or we need more experiences to embrace the concept of fine dining. LOL.
There is always a room for dessert (okay in our case, a BIG room for dessert) so we ordered a slice of Bakewell tart which has Griottine cheery inside it and served with creme fraiche ice-cream (S$18). The definition is completely taken from the menu so if you don't really understand the term...well, there is always Google. I admit I don't understand some of the food terms too but a bakewell tart and a scoop of ice cream sounds good enough.
Since we came during festive season, there is another complimentary dish given to us, two pieces of minced pies. While I don't mind the taste (which brought me back to those Christmases I spent in England), my friend did not really like it. #acquiredtaste
