For a bistro & bar, Boomarang surprisingly opens pretty early in the morning and it provides breakfast items and coffee from 6AM to 11AM (7AM from Robertson Quay branch) on weekdays and from 7AM to 11AM on weekends. 

There was not anything to watch on telly that day because we came on the New Year's Eve. I don't think anyone play match on that day anywhere in the world. Good for us, because we can have our nice quite evening. Not many people chose Boomarang as their dining option to celebrate New Year's Eve too. I wonder why. Not posh enough? But there are more diners downstairs though so at least they are still making a business that day.

Right, let's dive in to the dishes offered by Boomarang. Boomarang offers mostly Western food with occasional Australian dishes (like kangaroo meats). For a starter, we ordered wedges to share amongst the two of us. Taste pretty much normal. 

I have read a lot of raving reviews online about Boomarang's Chicken Parmigiano so we decided to order one. My first impression? It is damn huge. I don't think it is meant to be consumed by one person, really. The Chicken Parmigiano (SGD 25++) is cooked with Napolitana sauce, sliced leg ham and mozzarella and cheddar. It is served together with fries (which you can barely see because they are hidden by the chicken). I love Boomarang's chicken parmigiano. Pretty good and tasty. Although I kinda suspect that I like everything cooked with cheese. LOL.

Boomarang claims the next dish to be their no. 1 selling pizza. It is called the Boomarang Deluxe. It comes in two sizes, small (SGD 22++) and large (SGD 28++). Boomarang Deluxe pizza comes with wagyu beef, pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, bacon, Spanish onion, mushroom and bbq sauce. It tastes okay because I think an order of potato wedges, a pizza and a chicken parmigiana are too much for two ladies to finish. Hahaha. Next time, we must order reasonably I guess. 

Boomarang Bistro & Bar has two locations in Singapore: 

1. Boat Quay 51 Circular Road 

2. 60 Robertson Quay

I personally think the outlet at Boat Quay is easier to reach because you can take train to Raffles Place MRT and walk for a bit from the MRT station. Meanwhile, if you want to go to Robertson Quay you must take bus. 

Smiths is located alongside Boat Quay and if you can secure an al-fresco table, you can dine while enjoying the view of Singapore River. 

I remember back in the UK, the choice of fish for fish and chips is either haddock or cod. Both are quite affordable in the UK but here, in Singapore, both fishes cost a bomb. The standard cod and haddock fish costs S$19.50. But since there's no way the fish & chips is gonna be authentic if we order dory, we decided to give haddock fish & chips a try. Look wise, it's pretty close to the real ones which I used to eat in UK but the taste is not really as good. Although I notice that there is less oil spotted on this Singapore version. The one I ordered in a fish & chips kiosk in Newcastle always drenched in oil (and hence, yummy?). #goforoilyfishandchips

We also ordered Chicken and Mushroom Pie to try. Taste quite so-so. It costs S$9.50 and it is served with thick fries too just like the fish and chips. 

There are some unique desserts sold at Smiths such as battered MARS bars. If your heart cannot take it, alternatively, you can hang out at the neighboring The Connoiseur Concerto (TCC).

The thing about TCC's menu is you will never get bored because they keep changing the menu. But if your wallet is kinda tight, TCC may be a tad cruel to you because they keep the price of the food dish on the upper side (i.e. >S$15). The drinks are around S$10-ish. As the night is kinda humid (what's new?), we ordered fruity ice blended. The one on the left is lychee ice blended while the one beside it is the mango ice blended. 

The drinks are quite refreshing especially when drank after a sweaty walk around Singapore. We just had our meal at Mexout at the neighbouring Far East Square, so we were not really hungry. The atmosphere at TCC in Boat Quay is perfect for evening chit chat. 

We were already so hungry when we arrived so we quickly ordered a starter, Fried Calamari. These fried squids are good. Yum!

To balance our meal, we also "surprisingly" ordered a bowl of Crunchy Honey Mustard Bacon Salad. Right, the salad does not really sound so healthy. But at least, it's green. Green food is healthy (really?).

Next, we are so ready to chow down our main dishes. First on our table is the Baby Back Berry Ribs. I really like marinated BBQ ribs but ribs are so expensive, I can only eat this probably twice a year. #sad

The next dish on the table is Chicken Schnitzel which is described as tender chicken breast pan-fried in Japanese breadcrumbs. The chicken is served with salad greens so I suppose this can be categorised into "healthy" category. Hehe. 

Once you are full, you know what to do on a Friday night, right? Yeah, bring out the alcohol! Since the catch up session was attended by all girls, we ordered one cocktail each so that we could try each other's drink: Bellini - Dallas Sangria - Long Island Tea - Frozen Appletini
