Singapore Eats: Bedrock Bar & Grill, Somerset

"So you can keep me inside the pocket of you ripped jeans. Holding me closer 'til our eyes meet."

The best thing about having birthday pretty near to your friend's is that you can skip all the nitty gritty of picking place and treat because (a) you only celebrate with each other and (b) you can just pick one place for all. Since both I and the other birthday girl have been living off from food court's cuisine on the weekdays, we decided to splurge a bit by celebrating our birthday at a steakhouse, Bedrock Bar & Grill.

Bedrock Bar & Grill has other main dish like fish or chicken if you are not a fan of sirloin, tenderloin and ribeye. We were pretty surprised at first because we could not find our favourite starters, fried calamari in the list of starters.

Only shortly after the waitress served us complimentary bread (which looks like naan) then we realised that the fried calamari is listed under different menu on our table. It's listed as the bar's finger food instead of starters.

Here come our orders which turn out to be kinda too much for two ladies. As usual, hungry eyes bring doom to our waist line. We shared a plate of fried calamari (SGD 16), a plate of Australian ribeye (SGD 89) and a plate of USDA tenderloin (SGD 89). By the way, if you are signing up for the Entertainer app, you can get one for one for the steak dishes. Good deal indeed!

The portion of the fried calamari is huge but as usual, this dish never disappoint. The tartar sauce taste superb too.

You can select which sauce you want to go with your steak. For the Australian Ribeye, we chose to go with the red wine sauce. The other day one of my friends told me the guy she's currently dating with helped her to cut the steak here. But to be honest, you can just ask the waiter to help you cut the steak so you don't have to do it yoursels (lazy people like us...hahaha). Another thing, the meat is tender enough up to the point I don't think we need anyone to help us cutting it. There goes romance in dining with us.

For the USDA tenderloin, we chose the whole grain whiskey mustard. It taste kinda weird (although I still can eat it). We kinda regret not going for the bearnaise sauce instead which I think should be better compared to any sauce with mustard inside. Other than the sauce, the tenderloin is good although it has some fats parts inside. Some people don't mind eating the fat though, like my brother. With the accompanying judging glare from my Mum obviously.

When we ordered the dessert, I asked the waitress for candle since the other birthday girl has not had the chance to blow a candle yet. Surprisingly, the waitress put an extra touch to the cake by putting happy birthday chocolate and to make us even more amazed, she said that the birthday cake is on the house. It's FREE-OF-CHARGE. Oh my gawd, we were very very touched (yes, who does not love free stuff? Hahaha).
