A journey into an epic cultural park at Garuda Wisnu Kencana, Bali
Garuda Wisnu Kencana ("GWK") is a unique cultural park located at Uluwatu, Bali. The cultural park is inspired by the classic epic of the adventure of Garuda. Around the park, there will be statues with story for the Garuda epic tale.
You can also enjoy a breathtaking view in the park at Garuda Plaza. There are sport activities that you can do as well in the green field such as riding on a segway. If you are not the active kind of a person, you can just relax, take a deep breath and enjoy the nice view from above.
This is the statue of the Garuda. The other parts of the statue (e.g. the wings) are in progress of being built on the other part of Indonesia. It is still yet to be completed as of today's date.
And the next statue is the 23-metre statue of Vishnu. The whole idea is to build a mega statue of Vishnu riding a Garuda. If they manage to pull off this project, this will be the biggest statue in the world.
At the bottom side of the cultural park, there is a Lotus Pond. However when we come, not many Lotus were sighted.
At the moment, Garuda Wisnu Kencana is a popular spot for wedding celebration and music concerts too. Iron Maiden and Paramore had performed at this cultural park before. If you want to watch the local Balinese dance, the tradional Kecak dance is being performed at the Amphitheatre every evening from 18.30 to 19.30 for free. More reasons for you to go to Bali, right?
