10D9N Spring Japan Trip: The Mysterious Island, Tokyo Disneysea
After taking a fast pass for the Journey to the Center of the Earth, we wandered around the Mysterious Island to see what could we do before we could use our fast pass for the ride. I could say that Mysterious Island is really one of the iconic places of Tokyo Disneysea.
It is inspired by the Mysterious Island in Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth book which revolves around a research facility built in the middle of the island under an active volcano named Mount Prometheus. The detail of the Mysterious Island superbly convinces visitors that we are really in a facility inside the island.
That's when we spotted that there is another ride in the Mysterious Island other than the Journey to the Center of the Earth. The ride is called 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
Despite the mouthful name, the ride looks particularly interesting and suitable for young kids. Riders will board those little submarine-ride to go 20,000 leagues under the sea.
You need to pass by a lot of interesting-looking structure while queuing for the ride. You don't have to get a fast pass for this ride because apparently you the queue only takes 15 minutes around 9.30AM-ish on a peak weekday.
You can see a research room inside a submarine while queuing. I guess this kind of details will take care of boredom-ness in the queue line although nowadays we have to be thankful for the existence of smartphone (with data plan).
Nearer to the ride, you can see the submerging suits which seriously looks somewhat outdated. LOL. Oh right, I forgot to tell you that this ride is also based on Jules Verne's sci-fi novel with the same title. The storyline revolves around the discovery of the sinking Atlantis.
You are to board one of Captain Nemo's powerful submarine boats and join him in his undersea search for Atlantis. The effects really gives you an impression that you are indeed exploring the underwater world. This is a ride that you can't miss in Tokyo Disneysea.
